The Lynx (With Blackie the Mystery Boy)-Norton Kingsley-1940

Yet another dorky-looking do-gooder of the Golden Age, this one accompanied by "Blackie the Mystery Boy."

"Honestly, Officer, I don't know WHO he is! He just started following me around last week, y'know?"

Thanks. I enjoyed that.

However, Blackie, the Mystery Boy, wasn't too much of a mystery ......working WITHOUT a mask!! lol

Poor kid should've been called Black Eye. Over the course of an eight-page story, he gets clubbed in the skull, punched in the face, shot at, and kicked--twice rendered unconscious!

But he also finds two under-everyone's-nose clues, one of which solves the mystery--yet Lynx gets all the credit because he has nice timing and can jump and punch. Psh! Typical.

(Gotta love the suggestion that a murder suspect--particularly a non-Caucasian one--would be taken seriously when claiming to absolve himself through second-hand supernatural testimony "in the morning." Not a flight risk at all!)

Good stuff. The Lynx is new to me.
(Always wondered about that bikini shorts bare-legged thing once so popular ...)
