By the time the Three Stooges came to comics at St. John, it was Shemp in the third spot, not Curly. With delightful MAD-style art by Norman Maurer, these early tales were amazing fun! Maurer would remain associated with the Stooges throughout the rest of his life, marrying Moe's daughter, helping them revive their career through television, producing their later features with Curly Joe and keeping a hand in later, lesser comics versions. Along the way, he and Joe Kubert developed the concept of 3-D comics!

Steve: Wow, is that some beautiful, clean artwork. I have got to get me some of that!
Thank you for posting this! I never realized that the 1972-era Gold Key comics "The Little Stooges" were, in fact, remakes of the earlier Three Stooges comics. Same artist for both titles, Norman Maurer, same story and title (99-44/100% Puritan). The artwork in the earlier title is quite beautiful- very detailed, balancing caricature with realism. I agree, Maurer was a heck of an artist! The later title had simplified the story and the artwork somewhat, removed the Indian brides, had the boys speaking Standard English and replaced Shemp with Curly's lookalike son. Both titles have their charms.
