I'm sure the Timely/Atlas experts can probably recognize the rather distinctive art on this fairly atypical western story but I can't,  nor could the GCD.Awfully fun to look at, though.

Rustler at Large-Wallace Wood-1956

Here's Woody at Atlas, nearly a decade before DAREDEVIL. GCD says Reed Crandall seems to have helped in the inks. I don't see it. In fact, even the lettering and logo are in Wood's distinctive style. The horses maybe. Maybe Crandall or someone else inked the horses. MAYBE! 

Squat Car Squad-Gay Comics-1946

Dick Briefer wasn't the ONLY one to have a parody of Frankenstein's Monster in the Golden Age of Comics. No, here's a not bad one from...well, I don't know who it's from but it's a good one!

Shock Gibson, one of the quintessential Nazi-bashing superguys, returns to our site here with another  fun little bit of propaganda. 

The Human Torch, Captain America and Sun Girl-Mike Sekowsky-1948

It was rare to have a superhero team-up in the Golden Age. Even Batman and Superman hadn't started hanging out together yet. But here we have the Torch and his then-partner teaming up with Captain America! Not quite the Invaders but...And Bucky? Well, in retro-continuity this was well past the point where the real Cap was frozen in ice so this was one of the later Caps anyway, probably the former Patriot. So Bucky was apparently somewhere in Soviet Russia. If you haven't been keeping up, it gets confusing. Just enjoy this rare teaming of two of Timely's best...plus Sun Girl.

If anything, there were more Tarzan clones in early comic books than Mandrake clones. Here's one of the more blatant ones from SPARKLING STARS.
