I always hear Irma's voice from MY FRIEND IRMA (a radio show and a Timely comic book) when I read SUZIE's dialogue.

The Weird World of Dr. Strange-1966/1972
Marvel's Dr. Strange first appeared in 1963. This version--from Western (Gold Key) was originally published three years later, in 1966, and then reprinted here in 1972. I wonder if it's THIS version that Benedict Cumberbatch will be portaying on-screen in a year or so.

Hogan's Heroes-Steve Ditko/Sal Trapani-1966
Well known for often subcontracting his art assignments to others for penciling, Sal Trapani did just that and got Steve Ditko of all people to do a couple GET SMART and HOGAN'S HEROES issues in the 1960s. Here we have a couple inside cover gags from the latter that aren't funny nor do they even make any actual sense but it is interesting to see the great Ditko's work on these characters.
Blonde Phantom-Sun Girl-1948
GCD doesn't name the distinctive artist here but it is some pretty fun work. Perhaps one of you out there will know. The Blonde Phantom was a latecomer to Timely Comics but appeared in several titles as a backup, cover featured on others and with her own title briefly!

Bum Wrap-Pete Morisi-1973
Charlton fans will be interested in seeing this late period sighting of PAM--Pete Morisi--full time police officer and part-time comic book writer-artist.

Shoot Anything That Moves-Dave Berg-1952
Not exactly "The Lighter Side of The Korean Conflict," this is nonetheless art from Mad's Dave Berg, running full-speed in a wonderfully colored story with an almost Will Elder feel to its illustrations.

The War of the Worlds-Frank Bolle-1974
One of many, many looks at the unfairly infamous Orson Welles MERCURY THEATER OF THE AIR dramatization of HG Wells' WAR OF THE WORLDS that was already 36 years in the past at the time this comic book came out.

The Desperado- Approved Comics-1954/1944
Reprinted in '54 from fully a decade earlier for no other reason other than that there was space to fill, this blue masked fella is sort of like the Spirit...only with a mustache and a very, VERY bad fashion sense.

The Scream of Things-Barry Smith-1970
Here we have Barry (Windsor-) Smith in full-on Steranko mode with what could well have been looked at in the same way we admire Jim's one-off romance story today except for one little problem---the inking of Vince Colletta. Now, I'm not one of the Vince haters. I actually like him quite often. But seriously, you assign him to Barry? Even then? Sigh...

The Triple Terror-Reg Greenwood-1940
Excerpt from a long ago in-progress original story stuck in TIP-TOP COMICS, one of those fun and wonderful anthology titles that mostly reprinted familiar newspaper strips like TOONERVILLE TROLLEY, SMILIN' JACK, LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE, FRITZI RITZ and LI'L ABNER. Superheroes were hot...but they weren't in the papers yet so someone decided to create an all new serial.
