Miss Hepzibah takes a Trip-Sal Trapani-1967

No one ever mistook one of the wacky ACG sci-fi/fantasy tales for a DC or Marvel or even a Charlton one. ACG had unique feel both in writing and art. Were they good? Not...really. But they were wacky fun most of the time, even when they didn't have green ghosts.

General Little-Irwin Hasen-1955

Irwin Hasen, who passed recently, could work in many styles such as his serious superhero style on 1940s Golden Age JSA stories, his commercially popular DONDI strip style, and here, credited with this odd filler from STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES.

The Jester-Paul Gustavson-1941

One of the more prolific and consistently stylish artists of the Golden Age, the Finnish-born Gustavson did all types of strips for various different companies. It's surprising that his name hasn't resounded down the ages in the same breath as that of Lou Fine.

Ricky-Bill Williams-1953

Between RICKY and HENRY ALDRICH, I've decided that Bill Williams is as adept at these Archie-type strips as Bob Oksner was at DC!

The Lost World-Graham Ingels-1944

Pre-EC Ingels art on this Fiction House GGA sci-fi strip. Roy Thomas is currently reprinting the whole run of PLANET COMICS in beautiful, highly recommended volumes.

The Flash-Martin Naydel-1946

A wacky Flash story for a listener in New Jersey. Note that this was published by Jolaine Publications. Which was...what? Who? Usually it was Marvel that had a bunch of phony publisher names.
