Nightmare and Sleepy-Alden McWilliams-1947

Here's some early superhero work in CLUE COMICS by Alden McWilliams looking very much influenced by Lou Fine. The artist is probably most recognizable for his smooth work years later on various mystery/suspense tales drawn anonymously for Gold Key as well as a cult favorite newspaper strip entitled TWIN EARTHS.

Nightmare & Sleepy??? Sounds like a ripoff of Sandman & Sandy. Never heard of this pair, so wonder how long they ran.

Storyline is actually a little similar to an early Simon & Kirby Sandman story of modern day slavery. So I wonder if they ripped off that storyline (original didn't have the plutonium angle, as it was done pre-WWII).
