Here's something interesting--a SUPERBOY story drawn by early DC staple Creig Flessel. Flessel brought a unique, light-hearted look to this story, especially in his portrayal of Lana Lang. Many years later, the artist would do a Good Girl Art strip for PLAYBOY.

An, comic-book science! Asbestos is simply benign; rubber insulates at all voltages; lightning just takes a path through air to get to metal; and melting things causes them to lose their momentum!
But this Lana Lang is definitely better than the judgmental shrew in the Superboy stories that I read as a child.
What refreshing art for a Superboy tale... I thought for sure I'd read this, looked up the issue and the cover's totally familiar, but for whatever reason I don't recall the story itself or Flessel's work. Just did a search on GCD and plan to read the few others he drew around this same time!
Here's a link to the advanced-search results for anyone who stumbles upon this and is curious.
