Bubbles the Water Baby-Harvey Eisenberg-1952

Here's a fun Disney story about a Little Mermaid--a REALLY little mermaid. Art is by the great Harvey Eisenberg.

The Firebrand-Charles Sultan-1941

This Christmas-colored hero made his first and only appearance in this issue of YANKEE COMICS apparently. Artist was Charles Sultan, an Eisneresque illustrator who was fairly prolific at Fiction House and Fawcett.

Bombo-Jack Kamen (?)-1953

These Jo-Jo the Congo King stories with their ersatz Tarzan and his jungle girl partner could be a lot of fun. This one is, in fact, a reprint from about five years earlier with JO-JO now renamed BOMBO!

Dream Mystery-AC Hollingsworth-1948

Here's a nice-looking little bit of creepiness from an artist who has become a favorite of mine just from my posting his work here on the site--AC Hollingsworth.

Wing Lee, Boy Patriot of China-Jack Alderman-1943

Once again, we remind you to put these WWII stories into historical context. They can be and are offensive today in some respects but fascinating in others. Imagine Caniff's Connie as the hero (with hair). This "New Sensational Boy Hero of Comics" only ran three issues.

Captain Rocket-1951

How about some good old fashioned Canadian space opera with goofy costumes and silly dialogue? No clue who did any of it, mind you, but it's similar to Wally Wood's contemporary Avon work.

Willy-A Date With Judy-1953

Some lively art here on the yet another sorta/kinda Archie clone found as back-up strip--in this case in an issue of DC's radio-based comic, A DATE WITH JUDY.
