Kay McKay, Air Hostess-Art Saaf-1941

Nowadays, it's just mostly arguing with drunks or, if you're at United, dragging people off the plane. Back in the day, however, there was a lot more to an air hostess than the old "Coffee, tea, or me?" image. At least THIS one!

Billy the Kid-John Severin-1959

There's no mistaking Severin's expressive faces, Although associated mainly with Prize and EC and then later Marvel and Cracked, he was willing to draw westerns just about everywhere, including for the notorious cheapskates in Connecticut!

Zachariah, Yankee Peddler-1969

GCD speculates that this is some combination of Hy Eisman and/or Frank Thorne and I do see what they're seeing but I wouldn't want to go on record one way or another. Simple but nicely done, though.

Weenie the Sculptor-Bob Powell-1965

I love Bob Powell's art and this book, HENRY BREWSTER, was some of his final work. Not his best mind you but he did have a way with comedic faces.

Midnight-Alex Kotzky (?)-1943

Ah, here's another classic adventure of...the Spirit! No, wait! Aw, man....It's that other guy again. Still, fun stuff in its own right!

L'il Pardner-"Jersey"-1956/1963

I can't decide if this unknown artist is highly stylized with his almost "underground" look or yet another candidate for worst-drawn comic book story of all time.

Les Paul and Mary Ford-Bob Correa-1953

The electric guitar legend  and his then-partner play matchmaker in this romance comic story. Lots of photo reference for the duo's unlikely appearance.

The Beast From Below-Jay Disbrow-1954

Jay Disbrow was the first Golden Age artist I ever met. He died last week after living long enough to be rediscovered and have a hardback collection of his horror stories from Yoe Books. R.I.P.
