I defy anyone not to laugh when reading a Basil Wolverton comic book story! POWERHOUSE PEPPER was, to me, a sort of variation on Popeye. He just tries to mind his own business but gets mixed up in things that only his unnatural strength and abilities get him through. Along the way, there's a patented dose of pre-Will Elder "chicken fat," also so be sure to look and read between the lines to get the full effect. Although never a huge hot and, in fact, usually used as filler in various Timely humor books, POWERHOUSE PEPPER is fondly remembered and was still being reprinted into the early 1980's in the cheesy men's mags put out by a different portion of the company that had been Timely.
