Had Max Gaines (Charlie to his friends) had his way, educational comic books would have been big all along. Between his involvement in the success of Superman and Wonder Woman and his son's transformation of Educational Comics to Entertaining Comics, Gaines championed his various Picture Stories series--Science, the Bible, and American History.
With Pennsylvania in the news so much the past few days, here's Gaines' brief history of that state.
