Although little remembered today, National had a comic entitled FRONTIER FIGHTERS in the mid-fifties, probably published to cash in on the success of Disney's DAVY CROCKETT. As Davy was a public domain historical figure, anyone who wanted to do Davy stories could do so...and many did. DC took advantage of this fact by adding other historical figures also including Kit Carson and, as seen here, Buffalo Bill. The art here is by the great Joe Kubert--post St. John and pre-Sgt. Rock.
