I remember learning the meaning of the word "banshee" when the X-MEN villain (and later member) was introduced. 25 years earlier, kids were encountering the word from this guy!
The first comic book I read which had the word,"Banshee,"was a Rocky/Bullwinkle comic book which contained poem parodies. In their parody of The Highwayman the first lines were:
