Abbott & Costello-1969

The ABBOTT & COSTELLO comic book came along ostensibly as a tie-in to the then-new 1960s cartoons. Only the cartoons were terrible and quickly tanked and the comic book--originally thanks to Steve Skeates--was often pretty amusing. Here we see the creators (hard to tell the artist and I believe Skeates was gone by this point) playing with the concept of comic books themselves.

I have a few of these, but this is a series I could be tempted into collecting if that impulse hadn't been burned out of me by the monstrosity of a collection that inhabits our back bedroom. I have to many comics man. But still I want more -- it's an illness.

I think the artist here is the much maligned Tony Tallarico. He took over the book on covers and this looks like his line to me. Thanks for sharing this one.
