The Hangman-Bob Fujitani-1943

Although half Japanese himself, artist Bob Fujitani spent much of the WWII era drawing the exploits of masked men and pilots fighting the Japanese and the Nazis. To me, though, his best work was on THE HANGMAN, a violent but nicely drawn strip from the company that would eventually become Archie Comics. The title "hero" was the vengeful brother of The Comet, the first superhero killed in a comic.

Fujitani's style would have been well-suited to the Captain America of the '40s.
