No matter how many retcons Marvel does on soon to be movie star CAPTAIN AMERICA, this particular post-war version from 1946 doesn't really fit. He's a school teacher, returning to the job he had before the war! And Bucky is one of his students. Supposedly this was the fifties, commie-smasher Cap who became USAgent...only...as I say...this was 1946. This story also features one of the first revisionist versions of the origin story.
This was always retconed Jeff (The Patriot) Mace, and Fred Davis Bucky, not William Burnside, and Jack ( Nomad) Monroe. U.S. Agent was Jonnny Walker Captain America of 1980's

Captain America to his sidekick, nearly bent double in front of him:
"Say, Bucky - have you ever felt curious if it might hurt to have a Cap popped in your ass?"
