The Eagle-Emil Gershwin-1940

From SCIENCE COMICS in 1940, this is the Eagle, yet another forgotten superhero. The art on this feature was generally by Emil Gershwin, a sometime assistant on FLASH GORDON and TARZAN in the newspapers. GCD, however, lists question marks on this particular story which, I'll admit, doesn't look quite as polished as some of the artist's other work. Another fun story, though.

  1. I'm thinking this isn't Gershwin. Even the early work I've seen by him has more solid drawing than this. This is more like wonky/primitive Fletcher Hanks stuff -- though I don't think it's Hanks either -- just making a comparison.
