The Boys From Up There-Reed Crandall-1966

Many comic book artists make their mark at a particular company or on a particular character/ Reed Crandall managed to leave three separate marks and a goodly amount of other cool work besides. In the forties, he was known for is outstanding work on Quality's BLACKHAWK. In the fifties, he fit right in at EC and turned out some classic horror tales. In the sixties and early seventies, Crandall proved he was too cool for the room with a series of memorable , amazingly illustrated strips for Warren. Along the way, there were sidetrips like this cute little Harvey strip from JIGSAW.

It's a shame that Reed Crandall is virtually unknown among today's comic book fans. His work on The Ray and Doll Man as well as Blackhawks should be required study for any aspiring artist.

This is super wonderful. Haven't seen a lot of Crandell color comics from this period. Thanks!
