Here's a nicely drawn two-color serious strip that popped up in the middle of the otherwise supremely silly UK 1969 WHAM ANNUAL (published in '68). Note that characters in the strip are based on actors Yul Brynner and Richard Chamberlain.
And Sir Charles Bernard seems to be Dr. Gillespie from the Ken Bald DR. KILDARE strip (for economy's sake he looked nothing like Raymond Massey)--so we can guess where the artist swiped the drawings of Richard Chamberlain.
