Although little remembered today, National had a comic entitled FRONTIER FIGHTERS in the mid-fifties, probably published to cash in on the success of Disney's DAVY CROCKETT. As Davy was a public domain historical figure, anyone who wanted to do Davy stories could do so...and many did.
