No clue who Dick Charles is or even if he was/is a real person. GCD credits AURO, LORD OF JUPITER to Joe Doolin, a pulp illustrator who by this point was also laying out and/or drawing a lot of the covers for Fiction House titles. 

Uncle Sam-Dave Berg-1941

If this early tale of Quality Comics' UNCLE SAM looks similar to later Will Eisner SPIRIT stories, mayhap its due to the fact that Eisner himself is credited with writing it. Call it THE LIGHTER SIDE OF UNCLE SAM, though, as MAD's Dave Berg is on the art. 

Sunday Funnies!-1930's-1960's

Those Terrible Teenagers-Sal Trapani-1967

From 1967's ACG title GASP, here's (presumably) Sal Trapani, a  prolific comic book artist and yet one whose work I don't really recognize because he had a tendency to both copy panels from other artists as well as subcontract his own work out to others including, at various times, Steve Ditko and Dick Giordano. Trapani was, however, a big Old Time Radio fan and hooked up with young hobbyist Jay Hickerson in the late sixties. Hickerson became enamored of the hobby and went on to become arguably its greatest historian as well as propagating it and inspiring others by founding the Friends of Old-Time Radio Convention...all because Sal Trapani made some copies of OTR shows for him. 

Captain Milksop-Charles Voight-1945

We've run four posts of comics drawn by Charles Voight previously and all four were quite popular. Here we have another one as Voight tackles the ever-popular superhero parody genre. 

Fire-Eater- "Wood Byrns"-1942

Another dorky looking superguy, this one well-drawn by the pseudonymous "Wood Byrns." The issue was apparently packaged by the Jerry Iger shop. The following description of this hero. who appears here in his 2nd and last adventure,  was found  online: Mike O'Malley, a fire eater at a circus, used his skills to fight crime with help from his nurse girlfriend, Louise Peters. He had the power to eat, breathe, and stop fire. He was also resistant to flames.
