Perhaps one of the worst written superhero stories of them all, this senseless three-page TV tie-in has okay art--I love that spaceship in the splash panel--by an anonymous Gold Key artist. To today's readers it's of interest to see Birdman before he went to law school.

  1. Don't be dissin' Birdman, son. And don't ever, EVER mistake that stupid "Harvey Birdman" tripe for the real thing.

  2. I second what John says and add that the original 1960s Hanna-Barbera heroes were the coolest. "Harvey Birdman", my ass!

  3. Come now, kids. "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law" was a fairly affectionate parody, not to mention funny as hell (prior to that lethal mid-third-season blow-out, anyway). The satire of "Blackwatch Plaid" may not date well, especially since we've sheepishly accepted our Brave New Paranoid World, but it'll always be one of my favorite cartoons.

And let's be honest: the writing on the original "Birdman" wasn't much better than what we see in this comic--the primary differences being that the villain isn't some flamboyant, weirdly-hued goober who likes shouting his name, and all the bad guys die at the end.
