By the mid-50s, just before the fall, even most of the remaining superheroes were doing horror stories. Al Luster is credited on GCD with the art on this Plastic Man request, one of several artists who replaced the great Jack Cole as he got out while the gettin' was good and began doing cartoons for PLAYBOY.

9TH ANNIVERSARY REQUEST: Scribbly-Sheldon Mayer-1937

9TH ANNIVERSARY REQUEST: The Close Shaves of Pauline Peril-Jack Manning-1970
Written by former Disney writer/sculptor Del Connell and drawn by former animator Jack Manning, our second request is a long one but an absolute favorite of mine! A genuinely funny and enjoyable comic book both in story and art. Yes, it's horribly sexist when looked at in 2019 terms but 50 years ago, it was just funny in a camp, nostalgic, mod way.

9TH ANNIVERSARY REQUEST: Blood Bath-Chic Stone-1969
We begin our week of requests celebrating the beginning of our 10 year with a black and white one, reprinted here from Yoe Books' recent collection, THE WORST OF EERIE PUBLICATIONS. This story more than anything else probably kept me off drugs! If you're at all squeamish, move along, but come back tomorrow for a very different request!
