Some lovely, clean art on this long running Australian strip as seen in a magazine called MAN, JUNIOR in the mid-'50s. The strip kept going until 1969.

Beetle Bailey-1958
Mort Walker died over a year ago but as often happens these days it's been getting spread around lately online as if it just occurred. Made me want to revisit some of the Beetle Bailey comics. Walker himself didn't do them but his studio did and it's said that he supervised closely. They were a lot of fun.

Hamilton and Egbert-Paul Fung-1944
This is Casper Milquetoast, the iconic character created by the great cartoonist H. T. Webster. Sure looks like him guest-starring in today's installment of Hamilton and Egbert, too, doesn't it? Webster was still alive when this was published. I can't help but wonder if it was ever brought to his attention.

Charlie McCarthy-Harvey Eisenberg-1949
If Mortimer has a grandfather then he apparently isn't a ventriloquist's dummy here and thus neither is Charlie. He's just a weird-looking, monocle wearing...kid? The only thing stranger than Edgar Bergen being so successful on radio is his dummies appearing in comic books with Edgar nowhere to be seen!
