Beric the Bold-Albert Uderzo-1966

This is the story of one Beric the Bold and his rotund sidekick the Son of Boadicea, heroes of a small British village that refused to surrender to the Romans. You see Doric, the village druid, has this magic potion...Any of this sounding familiar? Yep! It's Asterix and Obelix (and Getafix), the first ten pages of ASTERIX & THE BIG FIGHT, to be exact, only here taken from RANGER, a UK boys' mag which apparently presumed readers wouldn't be interested in reading about indomitable Gauls so  all the main characters are here indomitable Britons! Uderzo art, of course, but I didn't feel I could really give Rene Goscinny credit for the writing!

Another British comic book reprinted Asterix stories, but he was called "Little Fred the Ancient Brit."
The title "Britons never, never, never shall be slaves" came from the first line of "Rule, Britannia" ("Britannia, rule the waves...") which was like a second national anthem for the UK after "God Save the Queen."
