Blackhawk-1949


GCD says this is Wallace Wood. I'm not seeing it. Oh, I'm seeing what people see in it that looks like Wood here and there but there's no documentation of Wood ever working for Quality and this looks very little like Wood's busy early art style. I say no. What do YOU say?

This is at best some early inking from Wood. You can see some of what looks like him in the side profiles on page 4 for example. However, this certainly doesn't look anything like he'd pencil even at this early stage. The blocking / staging is nothing like him, nor is the poor anatomy. I would say maybe he assisted on inking some of it -- that I would believe.

Anything's possible, of course, but I tend to agree with you that Wood wasn't involved. Even in his early work his posing and the shapes of his faces were pretty well established. The figures here don't look right.
