Star Hawkins-Mike Sekowsky-1961

It seemed to be only a DC thing but for reasons unknown, imps were big in the early '60s. Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bat-Mite, and then these guys! Why stop at one or two when you can have a bunch of imps?

Wow, they didn't waste any time wrecking Ilda. No, not the imps. In her first appearance (probably the first Star Hawkins story, reprinted in one of those Detective Comics 100-Page Spectaculars of the '70s) her face was completely featureless save for her eyes, lending her a certain charming inscrutableness. She also didn't have those Mechani-Kong arms or that...that skirt.

Also, Star was an absolute **** to her in that first story, dumping her at a pawn shop (...OF THE FUTURE!!) to pay off some bills until he could buy her back.

Something about these creatures reminds me of The Great Gazoo from The Flintstones. That is not a good thing.

Wish I have some of that Tootsie Roll Ice Cream Bar right now, if they still make them!!!

I wasn't a regular reader of Strange Adventures, but I kind of enjoyed those Star Hawkins strips that I did read.
