Jonesy-The Spirit-1948

Here we have a series of one-page ARCHIE-style strips used between SPIRIT section reprints in Quality's THE SPIRIT back in 1948. I have no idea who wrote or drew them or if they were themselves originally in THE SPIRIT section or done just for the Quality title. GCD doesn't even mention them as being in this issue and the only other reference I could find said they were by Paul Gustavson. I like Gustavson but this doesn't look like his more well-known style to me and it's signed "Dib." Anyone?

    Dave Berg? He worked for Eisner early on for a time.

    Jonesy was usually on the last page of the Spirit Section.
