Best known for his work on the DC/All-American line and later his DONDI comic strip, I stand by my contention that his humor strips were actually his most fully realized work.

Spacehawk-Basil Wolverton-1940
First a whole week of comics that were not in four color at all, now here's a story that's not even comics! I'm not entirely sure Wolverton wrote it, either. Definitely his art, though.

Suzie-Claire S. Moe-1943
Best remembered as a MY FRIEND IRMA clone with a Veronica lake hairdo in stories drawn often by Samm Schwartz, the SUZIE strip actually predated IRMA. Here's an earlier version with a whole different style and sensibility, drawn by one of the rare female artists of the day.
