A 2 page amateur Spidey strip published professionally in one of the UK Spider-titles back in the day.

Rackman-Carmine Infantino-1947

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a superhero story or a horror story or just a moral fable of some sorts. Basically you've got this little person who makes himself look bigger by an exo-skeleton type thingie. His father is a meanie, though, and the son returns just long enough to humiliate him. Pretty solid art by longtime DC mainstays, Infantino and Bernard Sachs.

Sargon the Sorcerer-Joe Kubert-1946

As with most All-American characters on the Golden Age, if you lasted long enough, your strip was likely to be hijacked by a goofy sidekick. Remember the all-powerful Spectre playing second fiddle to Percival Popp, the Super Cop? Here we see another extreme example as Sargon the Sorcerer--a fairly standard comic magician--acts as straight man to one Maximillian O'Leary.

Some really expressive, almost Howie Post-like artwork here from Ken Hultgren. Nice color work, too!

Hooks Devlin-John Forte-1947

We recently ran a Hooks Devlin story from 1945. By request, here we have another one, this one from two years further on where we find Hooks in his superhero costume. Sorta.

Tor the Magic Master-Fred Guardineer-1942

No relation to Joe Kubert's later caveman, this TOR is yet another magician hero, once again drawn by Fred Guardineer, who I am strongly beginning to suspect secretly wanted to be the MANDRAKE artist!

Inspector Dayton-Nina Albright-1943

GCD tells me this is Nina Albright and I have no reason to doubt them but I see what appears to be a lot of jack Cole influence here from her. A fun filler strip.
