The Owl-Frank Thomas-1941

There were several Owls in comics in the Golden Age. This was the one that was later revived at Gold Key for two "hip" issues written by Jerry Siegel. Artist Frank Thomas on this story was already an industry veteran. He went on to multiple newspaper strips in later years.

The Demlins-Tom McNamara-1942

If you look past the water damage, you get here a cute li'l comic book story about a family of gremlins/demons. It's drawn by Tom McNamara who had a long career in comics that was here nearing its end. Along the way, he found time to direct silent films in the late teens/early twenties including writing and directing some early OUR GANG pictures.

Congo Jack-Mark Schneider-1941

Apparently this story is drawn by Mark Schneider. I say this because it's signed by him on no less than three different pages. Congo Jack was sort of a Jungle Jim character who, here, seems to take a turn as another Alex Raymond character, Flash Gordon.

Nightro-George Roussos-1941

A blind man who could see using special glasses, NIGHTRO--THE STREAMLINED ROBIN HOOD was--make no bones about it--an out and out rip-off of Doctor Mid-Nite who premiered that same year. The art is by George "Inky" Roussos, a man I knew all my life as a good colorist and a sloppy inker but whose actual artwork impresses me more and more every time I see it.

The Vision-Vince Alascia-1942

The Vision, although created by the Simon and Kirby team,  was one of the earliest characters to be written by Timely's Stan Lee. This particular story is credited with a question mark to Vince Alascia at GCD.
